I travel up to North Norfolk at least three times a year and have got to know the area quite well over the last few years. I vary which North Norfolk Hotels I stay in because I have a number of favourites. All have rooms that are clean and comfortable and most have a very good restaurant. But what I like most about North Norfolk is the number of individual shops selling all kinds of interesting items that range from arts and crafts through to delicious food, works of art and unusual or intriguing antique items.
For a weekend break Norfolk, I usually try to travel up Friday morning and spend the afternoon wandering around Holt which is one of my favourite small towns. As a beautiful Georgian town, it has some delightful cafes and restaurants with home-made style cuisine and lovely coffee shops. I can meander at my leisure, pause for a coffee, pop into a shop and even go into the town’s own department store. Later in the day I check into the hotel in North Norfolk that I have decided to stay at and usually go for one that is fairly close to the coast because I love to walk along the beach on a Sunday morning.
From Holt, I’ll probably spend a few hours in Burnham Market and look in the galler-ies and delicatessen there before heading back to my hotel for dinner. Another of my favourite places is Cromer. I love the pier and the beach and like the little stalls selling seafood and shellfish. A pot of cockles is a treat for me. I end to visit Norfolk in the spring and again in the summer. But I always go up to the county in November for my birthday and treat my husband and I by staying in one of the Norfolk Luxury Hotels and having a wonderful meal in the restaurant.
For me, there is so much to keep me coming back to North Norfolk. It is the individu-ality of the accommodation, the shops and the character of the towns and villages as well as the proximity to the coast. I’m now getting to be quite a regular and have made a few friends in the area. I suspect that one day, we may even move to North Norfolk and make it our home.
