Holt is a place where butchers, fishmongers and green grocers still thrive and galleries, cafés, restaurants and independent shops are plentiful.
In the summer months Holt's a magnet for tourists visiting North Norfolk and all year round residents of the surrounding brick and flint hamlets and villages, gather here. During festival week, briefly and dazzlingly, it's home to musicians, poets, actors, dancers, artists and comedians.
There are venues all over town including performances at the church, the Auden Theatre, in the bookshop, Holt Community Centre, hotels and in the magnificent open-air Theatre in the Woods. If you are looking for a quiet time in the countryside, this is not it.
If you’re looking for cultural nourishment, belly laughs and the pleasure of seeing top-flight internationally recognised performers, you’re in the right place.
