From Holt to Wells

Wendy and Adrian

Top 5 things to do by Wendy & Adrian

Date of Stay: July 2026

1. Wells circular walk

Take the circular walk from the Pinewoods car park in Wells-next-the-Sea, past the lifeboat station, down onto the beach, bearing left along the beach with the beach huts on your left, and the channel on your right. Look out for any seals who may be basking on the far side of the channel. Continue round for as far as you are happy, then make your way back to the car park through the pinewoods, appreciating the shapes the trees have grown into over the years of exposure to wind.

2. Shopping in Staithe Street

Staithe Street in Wells next the Sea features a wealth of interesting independent shops selling an eclectic range of homewares and decorative items.

3. Fish & Chips

A visit to Wells next the Sea isn't complete without sampling fish and chips whilst sitting on the harbour wall watching families 'crabbing'. The only question is which will you choose - Platten's or French's?!

4. Back to Holt

Holt country park encompasses a number of different walking routes to accommodate all levels of fitness, including buggy and wheelchair accessible. Because it is heavily wooded, on a hot day it is a much more pleasant environment in which to take a walk than being in the open air. Hattie's café is well worth a stop for refreshments afterwards, however long or short your walk!

5. Baker’s & Larners

Bakers and Larners in Holt is as close to a traditional independent department store as you are likely to find. The staff are lovely, and the store stocks an amazing range of goods in all departments. The food hall is especially good.
